WEYMOUTH- Joseph F. Swaider, 91 years of age, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday, May 15, 2017. He was born in Hudson and received his education in Hudson. He was a WWII Army Veteran. Joseph was a part of the European Tour which captured the Rhine River Bridge at Remagen on March 7, 1945, which became recognized as a major turning point in the war. Joseph received the Purple Heart. He moved to Weymouth in 1965 where he was employed as a mail handler at the South Postal Annex for 30 years. Joseph was also a member of the DAV. Joseph was very proud of his Polish Heritage, and he enjoyed polka music. He attended St. Albert the Great Church in Weymouth. Joseph was the husband of the late Claire M. (Norton) Swaider who passed away in 2005. Joseph was the devoted and loving friend of Irene and Thomas Lynch of East Weymouth. He was the adopted grandfather to Tracey DiMaggio, Michelle Murphy, and Sean Lynch all of Abington, Thomas Lynch of South Easton, and Brian Lynch of Rockland. He is also the adopted great grandfather to 11 great grandchildren. He was the uncle to Ralph, John and Nicholas Seymour, Julie Agoritsas of Wells, ME, Eliz Temple of Berlin, MA, Michael Seymour of Bridgeton, ME, and Christine Roca of Florida. Joseph was the brother of the late Isabell Seymour. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 870 Broad Street, East Weymouth (opposite the US Post Office in Jackson Square) on Monday, May 22nd from 4-7pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 23rd at 8:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Albert the Great Church, 1130 Washington Street, Weymouth at 9:30am. Burial will follow with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Memorial donations may be sent to the DAV, P.O.
