Pre-arrangements provide peace of mind and allow for cost savings, especially as interest rates and inflation are both increasing again.

Information Regarding the Medicaid Spend Down:

Meeting the Medicaid Deadline to qualify your beloved relative or spouse for Medicaid purposes can be confusing, yet, we have the knowledge and experience to help you with the Medicaid Spend Down through thorough funeral pre-need planning. We have been doing pre-needs since the 1970’s, over forty years ago, and our funeral home has operated under the Peck Family for over 80 years.

We will set up, at no additional cost to you, a funeral pre-need insurance policy that is not taxed, is in an irrevocable funeral trust, when you call us at either 781-843-0890 or 781-337-0093 to make pre-need arrangements with our funeral directors.

If you, your family or your loved one already has an insurance policy, then we can have you sign an assignment form, along with a change in beneficiary and change of ownership forms, from that insurance company, which then will satisfy the requirements for an irrevocable funeral trust with our funeral homes. We will need from you or with your authorization the current death benefits value as well as the current actual cash value and policy number(s) of the policy involved.

Time is of the essence, so do not put off pre-planning today, so that you can complete your Medicaid application. Please feel free to fill out our pre-arrangement form on the pre-need page that is one of the left- hand buttons on www.peckservices.com. Three-quarters of the way down that pre-need page you will see a purple button titled “Pre-need Form”. Once you have called us, filled out that form and hit the submit key at the base of the form, that information comes to our funeral homes and within a one-hour appointment with us, you can sign documents and have all the requirements for completing your Medicaid spend down and pre-need funeral planning. The “funeral burial account” is a distinctly different account, currently allowing $1,500 dollars, to be set aside, for purposes of the burial itself, the collation, or gathering after the burial, and/or for engraving and cleaning of the stone, or the placing of the bronze marker.

We recommend having that trust account, the “funeral burial account” at your local Rockland Trust bank, for instance.

When you pre-pay the funeral with Columbian Insurance, with one of our directors having a funeral directing license as well as an insurance license, this insurance policy allows us to guarantee all the primary funeral costs including the casket, the funeral service expense, the prayer cards, and the (Whitman) vault. The ability to make that guarantee is not necessarily true if you assign an outside non-funeral insurance company policy to us, based on that individual companies policies. The only items that we can never guarantee are the cash advance items including but not limited to church honorariums, flowers, newspaper expenses, or the cemetery’s opening fee. Those cash items are too volatile, and those costs will increase over time whereas our funeral service costs will not once you have locked in the price with our Peck funeral homes.
