BRAINTREE- Alice G. (Tirrell) Payzant, 99 years of age, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Sunday, November 27th 2016. She was born and raised in Weymouth before moving to Braintree where she resided for 50 years. She worked as a bookkeeper for Howard Johnsons for 25 years before her retirement. She then moved to South Meadow Village in Carver where she resided for 30 years. She enjoyed cross stitch and even made afghans for all of her grandchildren. Alice was an avid cribbage player. She made it very clear to never disturb or call her between 7 and 8pm because she had to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was the wife of the late Paul V. Payzant. Alice was the loving mother of Stephen G. Payzant married to Veronica “Ronnie” of Naples, FL, Wayne Payzant of Wareham, and Leslie (Jancsics) Wheeler married to Henry of Richmond, VA. She was the mother of the late Robert Payzant formerly of Weymouth. Alice was the sister of the late Ruth Bean, Herbert S. Tirrell, and Mary Emanuello. Alice was the devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday, November 30th from 4-8pm. A Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 1st at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, East Weymouth.
