SOUTH BOSTON- Jean M. (McGraw) Ritchie, 94 years of age, died at the Boston Medical Center on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Jean was born in Dorchester and was a graduate of Girls High School in Boston. She married her late husband Albert R. Ritchie in 1947 and celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his death in 1997. She and her family moved to Braintree in 1973. She was a devout communicant of St. Thomas More Parish in Braintree and she was a member of the Sweet Adelines. Jean worked as an administrator for the Sentry Insurance Company and the CNA Insurance Company in Quincy for over 30 years prior to her retirement. She was most known for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was extremely devoted to her family. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Albert R. Ritchie. She is the loving mother of Christopher J. Ritchie and his companion Ulrica Fredsvik of West Roxbury, Philip A. Ritchie and his companion Jean Smith of Taunton, Colin G. Ritchie married to Barbara of Attleboro, and Elizabeth M. Burke married to Chief Paul Burke, Boston Fire Department (retired) of South Boston. She was the proud grandmother of Matthew Ritchie of Richmond, VA, Michelle Cormack of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Kristine Burke of South Boston, Timothy Burke of South Boston, and Elizabeth Ritchie of Attleboro. She was the very proud great grandmother of Andrew, Charlotte, and Angela Ritchie, Henry Burke, Norah and Padraic O’Connell. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Tuesday, February 21st from 4-8pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 22nd at 9:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Thomas More, corner of Elm Street and Hawthorn Road, Braintree at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
