Braintree - David P. Winslow, 88, passed away at Seasons Hospice in Milton on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. David was born in Brockton and raised in Weymouth where he graduated from Weymouth High School in 1948. David went on to graduate from the Wentworth Institute in Boston and also University of Omaha. David served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a lab manager for the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory at Harvard University in Cambridge. David was proud of the fact that he designed and built the Clean Room at the laboratory. He also had a hand in the making of the Hubble Telescope. He was extremely interested in planes and trains. He also enjoyed woodworking. David is the beloved husband of Phyllis M. (Carlino) Winslow. He is the loving father of Scott P. Winslow married to Claire of Holbrook, Bonnie Conners married to Kevin of Weymouth and Kim Winslow of Scituate. David was also the father of the late Cynthia Russell formerly of Weymouth. He is also survived by his 11 devoted grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was brother of Janet Wynot and the late Virginia Trott and Edward F. Winslow. Visiting Hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Monday, August 7, 2017 from 3:00-6:00 pm. The Funeral Service and burial will be private. David’s family sincerely requests that donations rather than flowers be made to NBIA Disorders Association, 2082 Monaco Court, El Cajon, CA. 92019 on behalf of his youngest granddaughter Samantha.
