QUINCY- Vincent “Bob” R. Anastasia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the age of 88.  He is the loving husband of 64 years to Barbara A. (Hall).  Bob is the son of the late Vincent W. and Margaret E. Anastasia.  Born in Portsmouth, NH and raised in South Boston and Houghs Neck, MA, Bob graduated from South Boston High School and, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines as a Fireman during WWII and is a war Veteran.  Bob worked for many years as a foreman/supervisor at Vacuum Industries in Somerville, MA.  After a short-lived retirement, Bob was a driver and maintenance worker at the Ramada Inn in Dorchester, MA. He was a devoted member of the South Baptist Church in South Boston.  Bob served as the church’s Chairman of the Board for over 40 years and was a church deacon, superintendent of the Sunday School and bass singer in the choir.  Bob also served as president of the Boston Baptist Social Union.  Bob was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins and enjoyed taking his family camping and waterskiing.  He also loved photography, gardening, reading, ten pin and candle pin bowling, riding his motorcycle and had the ability to fix anything.  For several years, Bob participated in an annual fashion show with his grandson, Christopher, to benefit the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Bob was a loving father to Warren E. and his wife Esther of Sharon, Robert D. and his wife Joan of Braintree, Ellen M. Anastasia of Methuen and the late Melissa D. Rawlinson of Dorchester.  He is also lovingly survived by 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bob was the brother of Nancy Murch of Franklin and the late Leona Mackenzie of Nova Scotia, Canada. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck –Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street Braintree on Wednesday, September 28th from 4-8pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Thursday, September 29th at 10:00am to be followed by a procession to the South Baptist Church, 80 L Street, South Boston for a Funeral Service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Gethsemane, West Roxbury. Memorial donations may be made to the South Baptist Church, 80 L Street, South Boston, MA 02127.
