BRAINTREE- Phyllis Mae (Perry) Nuss, 95 years of age, formerly of Brookline and South Boston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the South Shore Hospital. Phyllis was born May 1, 1921 in Brookline to the late William and Nellie Perry and lived there until her late teens. Phyllis was the wife of the late James J. Nuss Sr. She had 13 Siblings, all of whom had predeceased her. She was the mother of Cheryl (Nuss) Wadland of Braintree, Jay Nuss and his wife Carol of Braintree, Dennis Nuss and his partner Cheryl Malone of Plymouth, Stephen Nuss and his wife Diane of Sandwich, and Mary (Nuss) Bogle and her husband Russell of Bridgewater. She also leaves behind numerous adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the cherished godmother of William V. Allen of the Villages, FL. A proud WWII Veteran and a member of the Braintree DAV Chapter 29, Phyllis served in the US Coast Guard after her graduation from Brookline High School. She was a warm and gentle soul, who was fiercely dedicated to her Catholic Faith. She was a member of the Sodality at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in South Boston and at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Braintree where she was a communicant for several years. When she wasn’t traveling, playing the piano, dancing or singing, she could usually be found at a local beach with family and friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday, January 18th from 4-7pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Thursday, January 19th at 9:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
