ABINGTON- Ernest L. Fraser, Braintree Police Department, retired, 73 years of age, passed away at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital on Thursday, September 29, 2016. He was born in Boston and graduated from South Boston High School. He resided in both Dorchester and South Boston before moving to Quincy in the early 1960s. He joined the Braintree Police Department in 1969. Ernie retired in 2002. He was an Army Veteran and was extremely proud to be a police officer. He moved to Abington in the late 90s. Ernie was the son of the late Ambrose Fraser who was killed in action during WWII and his mother was the late Dorothy (Weston) Fraser-Noonan. He was the devoted and adoring husband to Marie E. (Hirtle) Fraser which he loved unconditionally, and to whom he had been married to for 45 years. He is the loving father of Denise Fraser-Jacobson married to Chris of Abington, Loriann Fraser of Abington, Patricia Fraser of Quincy, Maryellen Fraser-Iacomini married to Al of Ft. Myers, FL, Julie Fraser-Mulvaney married to Bob of Abington, Jean Fraser-Tisdale married to Gus of Lexington, and Thomas Fraser of Rockland. He was also the father of the late Michael Fraser formerly of Quincy. He was the devoted Papa to his 7 beloved grandchildren; Allison, Christian, Nathan, Julianna, Emma Rose, Braelynn, and Sarah. He was the brother of Richard Fraser of Dorchester, Lorraine Farrell of Raymond, NH, Kathy Lavoie of Carver, Jack Noonan of Hanson, Denise Dionne of Merrimack, MA, Dorothy Barbara of Danielson, CT, Irene Pirelli of South Boston, and the late Carol Davidson formerly of Florida and the late Peggy Noonan formerly of South Boston. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Sunday, October 2nd from 4-8pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Monday, October 3rd at 9:00am to be followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School Street, Quincy Center at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Ernie’s cherished his relationship with his grandson Nathan and to commemorate that bond, we ask you in lieu of flowers to please make donations to Autism Speaks, 1060 State Rd 2nd Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540.
