BRAINTREE – Daniel Joseph Parma, 96 years of age, of Braintree passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at his home. He was born in Boston and educated in Boston schools and graduated from Boston State Teachers College with a Master’s Degree in Education. Daniel taught in Boston schools before joining the Boston Fire Department to be with other members of his family in the fire department. He became a Captain in the fire department and served for forty years before retiring a number of years ago. He was a member of the Retired Firefighters Association and a member of Union 718. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W.II. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary T. (Vogel) Parma. He was the devoted father of Carol A. Haverly married to Henry Haverly of Lakeville and Joseph Daniel Parma married to Jeanne Parma also of Lakeville. He was the proud grandfather of Daniel A. Parma of Braintree and Scott Allen Halterman of Brittas Bay, Ireland. Daniel was the son of the late Daniel G. Parma and Alma (Cartwright) Parma. There will be a private Catholic Prayer Service at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, Braintree. Memorial donations may be sent to the Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Drive, Rockland, MA 02370.
