Braintree – Thomas James Stokinger, age 73, died January 4, 2022, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Cheryl Galvin Stokinger. Born in Boston on February 16, 1948, Tom was the son of the late Frank A. Stokinger and the late Rita Catherine Stokinger. He was the brother of Jane M. Stokinger of Duxbury, and the late Francis (“Frankie”) Stokinger and the late Nancy Lynn Stokinger. He was the uncle of Caitlin Jane Howard and her husband Albert, of Plymouth, and Lauren Ashley McCaul and her fiancé, Derek DeSantis, of Pembroke, and was the great uncle of 5 nieces and nephews – Brielle, Caleb, Audrey, Grayson, and Kaylee. He is survived by Aunts, an Uncle, and many cousins. Tom is also survived by his devoted friend, Nancy, of Quincy.
A graduate of North Quincy High School class of 1965, Tom served with the US Army from 1968 – 1974. He was a decorated veteran, having served in the Vietnam War 1968-1969.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to REACH, Inc., 20 Middle Street, Plymouth, MA in memory of Tom’s brother, Frankie Stokinger.
