Thomas Edward Hughes of Braintree passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026. Born in Roxbury, Tommy attended The Boston Trade High School for Boys in Roxbury.
A resident of Jamaica Plain for many years, Tommy enjoyed his time as a member of the L Street Bathhouse in South Boston. He was a long time employee at the New England Baptist Hospital. Tommy was the son of Katherine (Craffey) and Edward A. Hughes, and was predeceased by his three sisters, Marilyn Curtis, Claire Hughes, and Elizabeth Ann Testa. Tommy left many loving nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was very social and leaves behind many great friends, and long time friend of Robert Mee. Always an active person, Tommy enjoyed his time outdoors and could often be found at the beach soaking in the sun. Tommy was a devoted Boston sports fan as well as a huge movie buff, and he would often quote his favorite films. He was a friend to everyone he met, and he will be dearly missed.
Visiting hours and memorial service will take place on Friday February 6th, 9:00am-12:00pm, at Mortimer N. Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St. Braintree, MA. In lieu of flowers, please honor Tommy’s lifelong efforts to support programs for underserved children by making a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Boston (https://www.bgcb.org/donate/).
Interment will be separate and private at a later date.
