Bob “Gus” Gustavsen, a long-time resident of Braintree, Massachusetts passed away on December 13, 2021 at the age of 74. For many years, Bob courageously battled the impact of diabetes and ultimately passed away peacefully from complications of Covid-19.
Bob was born on June 7, 1947 in Quincy, MA to Herbert and Elizabeth Gustavsen. After Bob graduated from Quincy High School in 1965, he went on to study Finance, with degrees from both Bentley and Babson College.
Gus was devoted to Braintree youth sports and was a founding member of the Braintree Youth Basketball program (B.Y.B). He loved spending time with his family and watching his children and grandchildren play sports and participate in school activities. He also enjoyed travelling, skiing, golf and spending summers at York Beach, Maine. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox. Gus loved reminiscing with friends and family and his laugh was truly contagious. Many will remember that he was a great listener, loved to help others and provide advice when needed. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (Schofield) Gustavsen of Braintree, MA.; his son, Mark Gustavsen and wife Lulu of Canton, MA; son, Matthew Gustavsen and wife Elizabeth of Reading, MA.; Brother Herbert Gustavsen and wife Mary of Braintree, MA.; and 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Leia, Emily and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Verrinoldi.
