Robert H. Pettingell, age 90, of Braintree, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts, Robert was the son of the late Henry and Gladys Pettingell. He was predeceased by his sisters, Janice and Judy, and is survived by his brother, Ralph Pettingell, and his sister, Janet DeAngelis.
Robert shared a remarkable 66-year marriage with his beloved wife, Ruth—a partnership built on deep love, mutual respect, and countless cherished memories.
He was a proud and devoted father to Robin of Post Mills, Vermont; David of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and his wife Sandy; and Douglas of Braintree, Massachusetts, and his wife Karen. Robert found immense joy in being a grandfather to Ben, Noah, and Hannah, who brought him great pride and happiness.
Robert will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, his love of laughter, and the simple pleasures that meant the most to him—especially time spent with family, tending to his
yard, and his lifelong love of dogs. He had a special affection for animals, and dogs in particular brought him comfort, companionship, and joy throughout his life.
A private ceremony will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Schultz’s Dog Rescue, Dedham, Massachusetts.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
