Sanders, Phyllis of Braintree, formally of Lynn, passed away peacefully at the age of 95. Phyllis was the loving older sister of the late Richard and Joan Sanders and John "Jack" and Lavern Sanders, and was a cherished aunt and grand-aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a beloved friend to many.
Phyllis graduated from Villanova College in 1974. For more than 30 years she was a dedicated teacher in Philadelphia where she touched many lives. She lived a life of continuous prayer with a joyful heart as a sister of the Blessed Virgin Mary and was a vowed member of the secular order of Discalced Carmelites. She was a beautiful example to all her brothers and sisters in Carmel and described Carmel as “the greatest joy of her life.”
Phyllis often spoke of how blessed she was to have such a large and loving family. She ended every visit by saying “I love you dearly,” and she will be dearly missed by all.
Visiting hour will be held at the Mortimer Peck Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept 7th from 9 to 10 am followed by a funeral mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Braintree at 10:30 am. Relatives and Friends are invited. A private interment ceremony will be held in Maine at a later date.
