It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paula Jean (Hanson) Gadbois, who passed suddenly in her home on the afternoon of Thursday, February 27th. Born on April 6, 1959, Paula grew up in Braintree, MA, where she graduated from Braintree High School in 1977. She went on to earn an associate degree in Business Administration as the 1979 Valedictorian at Newbury Junior College in Boston, setting the foundation for a successful career in banking and financial services. She worked for South Shore National Bank in Quincy and later at Boston Financial Data Services before taking on her most cherished role—raising her three beloved sons.
Paula’s love for her family was immeasurable. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her children, ensuring they grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they created treasured memories at their family home in Swissville, NH, where winters were spent sledding and summers filled with boating, swimming, and visits to Funspot arcade.
Later in life, Paula’s nurturing spirit led her to continue caring for others as an at-home health aide. She found great fulfillment in this work, offering kindness and companionship to those in need. Paula had a creative soul and loved exploring new crafts and hobbies. Whether reminiscing about her days on the drill team in high school or reflecting on her childhood love of camping, she embraced life with curiosity and joy.
Paula is survived by her loving sons: Matthew Gadbois and his wife Maggie of Brockton, MA; Andrew Gadbois and his wife Kaelin Jenkins-Brown of Halifax, MA; and Daniel Gadbois and his partner Angerica Fitzmaurice of Westborough, MA. She also leaves behind her dear sister, Pamela Tirrell, and her husband Bill of Randolph, MA, along with their children, Christine and Michael, and their extended families.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Paula’s life at Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 5th, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow on Thursday at 11:00 AM.
Paula’s warmth, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
