Mary Virginia " Ginny" Toma (Leahy) of Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home on June 16th at the age of 88 surrounded by her family.
Ginny was born in Charlestown,MA to James and Margaret Leahy on January 26th,1932. Ginny was one of 5 children. She was a loving sister to her siblings, John, Nellie, Peggy and Kay. She went on to attend classes at Boston College where she obtained her degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse for many years, both before and while raising her children.
Ginny met her husband George Toma of 64 years at Moseley's Dance Hall in Dedham in 1950. They often reminisced of their earlier years together and reminded of how truly blessed their lives had been.
Ginny's greatest joys included spending time with her siblings,children,grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ginny is survived by her devoted husband, George Toma of Weymouth, her four children, James Toma and his wife Beth Toma of Weymouth, George A. Toma and his wife Marci Toma of Hull, Donna Toma of Abington, and Paul Toma and his wife Dawn Hintgen of North Carolina. Her grandchildren Zachary Lawlor and his wife Victoria Lawlor of New Hampshire, Alexandra Lawlor of Abington, Nirvana Hintgen of North Carolina, Lauren Toma and her husband Jeffrey Ostell of Michigan, Lindsay Toma of Arlington, Amanda Toma of Weymouth, Faith Toma of Weymouth, and her great grandchildren, Jeffrey and Liam Lawlor.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Celtic Angels of Weymouth and the Norwell VNA for their overwhelming support, care and guidance over the last several years as well as during her final days.
A private Funeral Mass will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children.
