Mary Ramsey Obituary

Mary L. (Hain) Ramsey was called to heaven on January 3, 2025, to join her husband Clarence and her family members and friends who passed before her.  She was born on November 4, 1935, in Boston, Massachusetts, to her parents, Florence M. (Wilcox) Nadelli and Harry K. Hain.

Mary met and fell in love with her late husband Clarence S. Ramsey, Jr. at a dance social and they married in 1958.  Mary and Clarence shared a great love and did everything together during their 63 years of marriage.  They were truly devoted to each other and to their family.  They made their home in East Braintree in 1964, and they lived in Braintree for the remainder of their lives.  Mary stayed at home and raised her two daughters.  When her children were young, Mary loved spending summer days with them at Swifts beach, watching them play, and socializing and chatting with her neighbors.  She was a wonderful wife and mother and a kind friend to all who knew her.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie J. Toma, of Braintree, MA; and Elizabeth (“Betty”) Caruso and her husband Robert J. Caruso, of Holbrook, MA.  She is the cherished grandmother of Michelle Pollock and her husband, Michael Pollock of Plymouth, MA; David J. Caruso and his wife, Elizabeth (Ayers) Caruso of Mansfield, Massachusetts; and Rebecca (Caruso) Marinaro and her fiancée, Ricardo Cruz of Taunton, Massachusetts.  Mary was blessed to be the great grandmother of five--Mia and Ava Tatro; Mason and Maddox Marinaro, and Isabella Caruso.  Mary was so proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she was truly loved and cherished by all.  She will be deeply missed.

Mary is also survived by her brother, Kenneth H. Hain, of Fayetteville, NC.  She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Castro, of Fort Worth, TX with whom she shared an unbreakable bond; and her brother, Robert J. Hain, who died many years ago while serving in Viet Nam.  She is also survived by her niece and nephews in Fort Worth, TX who she loved dearly.

Mary was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Braintree where she volunteered in many ways including teaching Sunday School and serving as a Deaconess.  She always showed her Christian values in the way she lived her life and treated those around her.

Mary was also a years’ long member of the Quincy YMCA where she learned to swim as an adult.  She had many good friends that she met at the Y.

Mary will be remembered for her love of Ogunquit, Maine, where she and Clarence vacationed every summer for many years, along with their children and grandchildren.  When we walk along the Marginal Way, we will remember Mary fondly and the special and kind person that she was.

A special thank you to Hospice Services of Massachusetts for the attention, care, and comfort they provided to Mary and her family in her final days.
