Mary E. Miller (Tanguay), 85, of Hingham, passed away on September 20th after a brief illness. She is survived by her sister Jean Reeves and husband Jim of Quincy, predeceased by her brother Matt, survived by her sister Theresa and husband Mike of Quincy, sister Sandy of New Hampshire, and brother Jack of Quincy. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mary was born in Hingham to Margaret Tanguay on November 18th, 1939 where she spent much of her young life. She graduated from Weymouth High School in 1958. Mary worked at Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance company in Boston for two years before her marriage to Robert C. Miller of Braintree on July 25th, 1959, who predeceased her in 2011. Mary and Robert were Braintree residents for 48 years while raising their family of four children.
She is survived by Susan Puleo and her husband Anthony of Ocala, FL, Robert and his partner Beverly of Plymouth, Stephen of Braintree, and Linda and her partner Rosemarie of Middleboro. Mary is also survived by three grandchildren Kerry (Puleo) Jackson-Lee and her wife Kristin of Taunton, Anthony Puleo and his wife Bethany of Leominster, and Briana Miller of Weymouth. Additionally, Mary has four great-grandchildren. Rebecca Lee of Taunton, Benjamin Lee of New Bedford, Justin Jackson of Taunton, and Edmilson Barros of Weymouth. Mary is also survived by her much loved Chihuahua, Princess.
Later in life, Mary enjoyed a 15 year career in Sales and Service for the National Fire Protection Association in Quincy and Avon. In 2011, she moved to Linden Ponds Senior Living in Hingham where she enjoyed friends and activities such as a leadership position within the Catholic Club while operating the weekly Rosary prayer on Fridays. As an avid Red Sox fan, Mary never missed a game. She was also a Patriots fan. Other activities included a devotion to animal rescue, protection of the unborn, gardening, bird feeding, and reading (particularly anything about the Kennedys!).
Visiting will be held at the Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington St. on Thursday September 25 from 4-8 P.M.A Funeral Mass will be on Friday September 26 at 11:00 at the Resurrection of the Lord Parish 1057 Main St. in Hingham, Ma 02043.Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
