Mary Ludwin Obituary

Mary M. Ludwin, age 95, passed away at South Shore Hospital on January 18, 2026, after a brief illness. Born in Braintree to Varsen and Melkon Milton, Mary graduated from Braintree High School and embarked on a career as a hairstylist. She began her journey at Bobbi’s Beauty Salon in Quincy and later co-founded Milton’s Hair Salon in Braintree with her sisters, Rose Hettstrom and Louise Rayburn. Always wearing a warm smile, Mary had the gift of gab, making her clients feel comfortable and cared for. Her life was enriched by the love she shared with her Armenian family.

Mary was the devoted wife of the late Theodore Ludwin. They enjoyed many happy years together, calling Braintree their home. As the last surviving member of her generation, Mary outlived her beloved sisters, Louise and Rose, as well as her brother, Armen Milton. She is survived by her nephew Edward Hettstrom and his wife Karen of Cohasset, along with their children, Erica Aguilar of Ashland and Tara Rothwell of Westwood. She is also survived by her niece Jane Ross and her husband John of Rockland, and their children, Lori Casey of Plymouth and Heidi Johnson of Abington. Additionally, her niece Arlene Ferreira and her husband Robert of Cohasset, along with their children Kim Jalewsky of Hull, Lisa Evans of Cohasset, and Greg Ferreira of Hull. Mary leaves behind numerous great-grandnieces and nephews and shared a very special bond and friendship with her great-grandniece, Lauren Jalewsky.

In a remarkable act of love, Mary and Ted embraced a sacrificial family role when her sister Rose was widowed with three young children. Mary devoted her life and love to Edward, Jane, and Arlene, nurturing them and imparting her wisdom and warmth. This amazing love continued with all generations.

Mary declared Jesus to be her Savior. Now and forever she will be with Him.

A private celebration of life will be held in the future.
