DURFEE, Mary I. (Hartmann) of Braintree, MA, formerly of Dorchester, passed away peacefully at Southwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility, Norwell, Mass. Beloved wife of the late William E. Durfee, Sr. Daughter of the late John and Robina Hartmann. Loving mother of William E. Durfee Jr. and his wife Karen of Braintree, Donna Monaghan Durfee of Weymouth, Kenneth Durfee and his wife Christine of Lydonville, VT, Debra Durfee of Braintree, Darren Durfee and partner Denise Merlino of South Boston, and Michael Durfee and fiance Diane Morad of Braintree. Sister of the late Francis Hartmann, John Hartmann, Elizabeth John and Rosemary Regan. Survived by her loving sister Gertrude Palingo. Cherished grandmother of 16 grandchildren, and beloved great-grandmother of 24 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in Mortimer N. Peck funeral home at 516 Washington Street, Braintree, MA on Tuesday October 19, 2021 from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi at 10:30 am on October 20, 2021 Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Mary’s greatest treasure in life was her family and being a wife to her late husband Billy. Mary was a retired lunch mother for 23 years at the William E. Russell School. Mary loved spending time with her life long friend Marie Schallmo, reminiscing and laughing about fun times they had through the years. Mary was loved by all and will be deeply missed by all family and friends.
