Marilyn (Hickey) Coffey, age 81 of Quincy, passed away on February 5th surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was born on November 4, 1939 to Edward and Margaret (Masterson) Hickey in Boston. She was raised in Charlestown and went on to work at New England Telephone after graduating from Charlestown High School.
She married John Coffey in 1958 and have two children, John "Jack", and Alan. Marilyn was a devoted caretaker to her family before going back to work in later years at Filenes.
Marilyn’s sense of humor and adventure will be greatly missed. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and made several memorable trips to Hawaii. She enjoyed her weekly visits with her niece Patty and looked forward to going to estate sales as well as trips to Foxwoods or Twin Rivers with her son Alan. Marilyn also enjoyed family gatherings where she was always the life of the party. Her presence brought both comfort and levity no matter the circumstances.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband John, and sisters Marjorie Davis and Charlotte (Vincent) Hurley, and nephews Wayne and Steven Davis. Marilyn is survived by her sons Jack (his companion Shanna) and Alan. Grandchildren Jake, Caleb, Emily, and Machala. Great Grandson John Patrick. Marilyn is also survived by her two nieces, Charlene (Tom) Mills, and Patricia “Patty" (Steve) Powers, and nephew Joe (Kelly) Hurley and their families.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy, Wednesday February 10, 2021 at 11:00am. Due to COVID restrictions, a viewing and burial from Peck Funeral Homes will be private.
Marilyn asked that everyone wear masks and practice social distancing to avoid spreading Covid 19.
