QUINCY/BRAINTREE - Joan N. Compton (Doucette) of Quincy, formally of Braintree, passed peacefully at Milton Hospital in Milton on May 22, 2021, at the age of 79 with her sons by her side. She was the daughter of the late Justin and Dorothy Doucette and the loving wife of the late Robert C. Compton. She is survived by her children Robert C. Compton II of Erie PA., Peter C. Compton and his wife Christine of Bridgewater, and Kirk C. Compton of Attleboro and his partner Jill McVane of Danvers along with her grandchildren Anna, Helen, Alexis, Kevin, Campbell, Maxwell, Brynlee, Connor, Brent, Coady Sam, several siblings and many loving nieces and nephews.
Joan was passionate about education and public service and she spent many years serving the town of Braintree as a town meeting member, 10 years on the Braintree School Committee and a few of those years as president. She also worked for many years at the Quincy Head Start program. Based on her life’s work and her passion for education, the family is excited to announce that we are establishing the Joan N. Compton Memorial Scholarship at Braintree High School. Link and more information can be found on the link below.
Due to the ongoing health crisis, and our mom’s request before her passing we will have a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Her burial will be a private ceremony for the immediate family.
Joan was very generous, always giving to those in need, or a worthy cause. In lieu of flowers, we would like to ask you to consider donating in Joan’s memory to the Joan N. Compton Memorial Scholarship at Braintree High. https://gofund.me/4133e119
