Isabel (O’Connell) Murray of Hingham passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2021 at the age of 92. Born August 25, 1929, she was originally from Dorchester and lived in So Weymouth for 53 years before moving to Hingham in 2019. “Belle” was the wife of the late Francis Murray who predeceased her in 2014 after 53 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late William and Isabel (McMahon) O’Connell of Boston. Belle was sister of the late William O'Connell, Virginia O'Connell, Elizabeth Gately, John O’Connell, and Madeline McLaughlin. She was the sister-in-law of the late Sr. Mary Murray of the Sisters of Charity of Halifax and Walter F. Murray, formerly of Maryland. She is survived by several loving cousins and was beloved “Aunty Belle” to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Isabel graduated from St Gregory’s grammar and high school in Dorchester. She retired from Verizon as a medical secretary after 40 years of service. She loved spending time with family and friends, particularly her three sisters - Ginny, Betty, and Mamie.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Mortimer N. Peck Funeral home at 516 Washington St, Braintree, MA. All are invited to gather at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:30 A.M on Friday December 3rd and Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church in So. Braintree at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Isabel’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or National Federation of the Blind.
