Harvey G Lyons Jr.

Harvey G. Lyons Jr. lifelong resident of Braintree, Massachusetts, died peacefully on November 6th at the age of 92 following a period of declining health. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Phyllis Lyons whom he met in high school and they remained constant companions for 75 years.  Loving Father of Stephen Lyons and his wife Margaret of Whitman, MA and Douglas Lyons and his wife Sharon of Cotuit, MA and also survived by his beloved five grandchildren and their spouses, Chad Lyons and his wife Mariann of Whitman, Brett Lyons and his wife Katie of Ridgewood, NJ, Sean Lyons and his wife Jess of Stratham, NH, Kelly Kacamburas and her husband Adam of Duxbury, MA and Jenn Hunnewell and her husband CJ of Kingston, MA. Harvey also had 11 great grandchildren who always brightened his day. Harvey served in the Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict and proudly earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University at night while working full time and raising a family. He spent over 50 years in various areas of the Food Service business and retired as VP of Purchasing with Kraft Foodservice in 1992. He enjoyed traveling with his wife with his favorite destinations being the islands of Hawaii and Hilton Head, SC. Harvey and Phyllis were also true snowbirds, owning a condo in Deerfield Beach, Florida for a number of years. He also enjoyed years of camping with family and friends. Harvey was a longtime member of the Masonic (Delta) Lodge of Braintree attaining the 33rd Degree and was member of the American Legion for many years. He enjoyed candlepin bowling, golf and was always up for competitive yard games with the family.

Visitation will be held at Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, MA on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11AM, concluding with Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harvey’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts and New Hampshire at www.alz.org/manh.
