George Armstrong Fonteno, of Boston, age 69, passed away on January 5th, 2021 at the Boston Medical Center from cancer surrounded by family members. George was born in Lowell, raised in California and graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles, California.
He proudly served in the U.S.Navy, married and moved to Massachusetts where he has lived for the last 39 years.
George was predeceased by his wife Diane Weddleton Fonteno and his parents Allen and Mary Fonteno of Beaumont, Texas. He is survived by his mother Deborah Blanchard and husband John Blanchard of Braintree, a son Daniel Fonteno and his mother Marilu Varesi of Johnston, Rhode Island, a brother David Fonteno of Bogota, New Jersey, step daughters, Linda Nason and husband Peter of Weymouth, Kelley MacKinnon and husband Chris of Arizona .Also several cousins in Maine, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles not only in Massachusetts but in New York,Texas and California as well.
George loved football, played football in High School. He had a passion for music and played the guitar. He was an avid writer, loved walking and sharing time with those he loved.
The family is appreciative of the loving care received from the people at Boston Medical.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, January 21 from 5-7 P.M. at the Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington St., Braintree, MA.
