BRAINTREE - David Wilbur Roper, “Dave” lifelong Braintree resident, passed away on March 31, 2021 after a short battle with cancer at the age of 71. Dave was predeceased by his parents Wilbur and Cecil and brother Robert, “Bob”. Dave is survived by his siblings Barbara Souza, Paul and his wife Marie, Pauline Roper, sister-in-law Diane Roper, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dave was born in Weymouth on December 10th, 1949 and raised in Braintree. He graduated from Braintree High School Class of 1967. Dave retired after many years of working as a member of the Teamsters Local 25 at Jordan Marsh Warehouse in Quincy.
Dave enjoyed music. He sang and proudly played his Ludwig drums and Zildjian cymbals in a band despite having one arm. He had extensive knowledge of musical artists, groups and songs 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. Dave used that knowledge entertaining folks on Karaoke nights around Milton and Quincy for many years.
As Dave became less mobile, he found a new musical companion in Google’s Alexa! Alexa gave new life to Dave. She played his requests, answered his questions, and best of all she never argued with him!
When Dave told a story, it usually resulted in him laughing uncontrollably.
Music, humor, and memories gave Dave the strength, courage, and perseverance to push through his toughest illness and agonizing injuries over the years.
