"Dooey” Bouaphanh Hutchinson of Weymouth, MA passed away on April 16th. She passed away peacefully with her loving husband Bruce by her side.
She was born in Vientiane, Laos on April 15th, and made her way to freedom in Thailand at 19 years old. It was here that she met her beloved husband, Bruce Hutchinson who was serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. She moved with her husband to his hometown of Weymouth where they had three sons together, Bob Hutchinson, Scott Hutchinson, and Tim Hutchinson.
Dooey sponsored many of her family members to come to the United States and to free them from the oppression of communism. She would say that this was one of her big life accomplishments.
However, nothing was more important to Dooey than being a loving mother, aunt, and grandmother. Her family was everything to her.
Dooey was the recipient of a double lung transplant in 2011. The survival rate of a successful double lung transplant is five years. Dooey survived for 12 years which is unheard of. Dooey was an incredibly courageous and strong woman who conquered so many of life’s adversities.
