Hingham, Braintree. Annabel (Ayer) Huntress, 88 years of age, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, February 10th, 2018. She was born in Boston and raised in Braintree. She was a high school graduate of Thayer Academy. Annabel then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Simmons College. For over ten years, she taught elementary grades at various Hingham schools, particularly South School. Annabel enjoyed life on Cushing Pond and spent many summers at Nantasket Beach. She took great pleasure in travelling across the country with her family. Her hobbies included being part of the Garden Club, Investment Club and a volunteer at the Hingham Public Library book store. She also volunteered at the Old Ordinary in Hingham. Annabel enjoyed services at the Hingham Congregational Church. She was the beloved and devoted wife of the late Robert J. Huntress. She was the loving mother of Bradford Ayer Huntress of Hingham and David Shattuck Huntress of Halifax, MA. She spent many happy hours, particularly at Christmas with her grandchildren Adam and Hailey Huntress, also of Halifax. She was a generous and caring mother-in-law to David’s wife, Heather Huntress and Brad’s partner, Kevin Shancady of Concord, MA. There will be a funeral service and reception at the Hingham Congregational Church on March 10th, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The reception will be from 12 to 1PM. The burial will follow at 1:15PM at the High Street Cemetery. All friends and neighbors who knew Annabel are encouraged to attend. Rather than flowers memorial donations in Annabel’s name may be made to the Hingham Public Library donations.
