Viola was born and educated in Weymouth and had been a Braintree resident for the past 70 years. Viola had been employed by the former Zayres Store in Braintree and then at Homegoods in Braintree until her retirement ten years ago. Viola was an avid collector of Knick Knacks and she especially loved collecting Jasperware and Wedgewood. She loved attending Bingo and was an expert at crocheting. Viola could often be found at area flea markets and yard sales hunting for “A Good Deal”. Viola and her husband William enjoyed their bus trips to Foxwoods and an occasional trip to Atlantic City. Viola had been battling breast cancer for the second time for the last 10 years. She was stronger than anyone realized. She is the beloved wife of William Coates, Sr. to whom she had been married to for 67 years. She had been William’s primary care giver until her recent decline in health. She is the loving Mother of William Coates, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Bridgewater, Deborah Bowles and her husband Dennis of Halifax, Douglas Coates and his wife Janet of Weymouth and Jeffrey Coates of Abington. Viola is the proud Grandmother of 10 and Great Grandmother of 22. Viola enjoyed the times she spent with her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Viola is the sister of Mary Papile of Weymouth, David Dentino of Nebraska. She was also the sister of the late Anthony Dentino and Louise Smith. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Madeline (Hollis) Dentino. Visiting Hours for Viola will be held at the Mortimer N.
