Susan Marie (Moroney) Lucia

Braintree- Susan Moroney Lucia, 75, of Braintree, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, July 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.She was born on January 15, 1943, in Boston, to Thomas Moroney and Helen Brown Moroney. Susan grew up in Dorchester and would tell stories of the fun she and her twin sister Elizabeth (Betsey) had with the neighborhood friends, whom she remained close with throughout her life. Susan attended ‘Gate of Heaven’ Catholic School, in South Boston. After graduating in 1960 she began working at CU Insurance where she met and married Patrick Lucia in 1971. They resided in Malden and were blessed with three children: Jonathan, Matthew, and Mark, soon moving to Braintree. Susan dedicated her life to her family. After her children were grown she worked for over a decade at South Shore Hospital where she connected with many patients and colleagues. She loved being with people. Whether you had known Susan for years or just met her all who crossed her path were graced with her warmth, positive energy and her love of life. The holidays were a special time for Susan, spent with family, friends, decorating and celebrating. She enjoyed the holiday masses and music at Christmas, attending church at St. Thomas More and Sacred Heart. Susan was always up for an adventure, enjoying the outdoors and traveling. Throughout her life she enjoyed visiting Cape Cod and local beaches like Nantasket. In her youth she traveled abroad to Europe with her sister, Italy being her favorite. Susan is reunited in heaven with her parents; She leaves behind her loving husband of 47 years, Patrick and her children, Jonathan, Matthew, Mark, her daughter-in-law Melissa and her dear granddaughter Ava, her beloved sister Elizabeth, Elizabeth's husband David and niece Donna. "Grandma" had a special relationship with her granddaughter, whom she would spend time with regularly. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Susan's memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute P.O Box 849168 Boston, Ma 02284-9168 A wake will be held on Sunday July 29th, 2018 at the Mortimer N Peck Funeral Chapels at 516 Washington St. Braintree from 5-8 PM. A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 55 Commercial St. Weymouth, at 11:00 AM Monday, July 30th. A committal service will follow at the Braintree Blue Hill Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
