Steven Edward McLaughlin, 65, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday December 9, 2017 after a courageous battle against cancer. Steve was born in Boston and raised and educated in Roslindale. He moved to Weymouth in 1983. Steve had been employed in management for ADT Security Services / Tyco International for 46 years prior to his illness and subsequent retirement. He was extremely dedicated to his work but lived for his family and friends. Steve was the beloved husband for 40 years to Diane L. (MacMillan) McLaughlin. He is the devoted father of Danielle L. Coughlin married to Shawn of South Weymouth, Nicole A. McLaughlin and Steven E. McLaughlin, Jr. both of Weymouth. He is the loving son of Gisele (Cossette) McLaughlin of Milford and the late Edward J. McLaughlin. Steve is the proud Grandfather of Olivia and Shawn Coughlin of South Weymouth. He is the brother of Geraldine Coletta of Mendon and Edward McLaughlin of Milford. He is also survived by Aunts, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews and many, many friends. Visiting hours for Steve will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, MA on Thursday December 14, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. There will be a gathering at the Funeral Home on Friday morning, December 15th at 9:00am to be followed by a funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 55 Commercial Street, Weymouth Landing at 10:00am. Entombment will follow at Village Cemetery, Weymouth. Steve’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, the caring Staff at the Pope Nursing Home in Weymouth and the understanding team at Seasons Hospice.
