BRAINTREE – PORT CHARLOTTE  - Russell “Russ” E. Watson, 83, of Port Charlotte, FL and formerly Braintree, MA passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 19, 2018, after a long illness.  Russell was the beloved husband of 26 years to Laurie (Leighton) Watson. Born in Boston and raised in Quincy, Russell was the son of the late Marguerite and Edward S. Watson, and loving brother of Natalie Wallace of Nashua, NH.  Loving father of Carl A. Watson and his wife Anna of Quincy, Jill W. Kennedy and her husband Anthony of Norfolk, Lynn Manning of Wilmington and step-father of Mark Zadrozny.  Loving grandfather of Adam C. Kennedy and his wife Sarah, Evelyn Manning, Austin A. Kennedy, Lindsey J. Kennedy, Erin Hachey and her husband Jacob, and Lauren R. Kennedy-Metz and her husband Josh. Loving great-grandfather of Mackenzie “Kenzie” Kennedy.  Russell worked in sales and service of construction equipment throughout his career as well as dabbled in real estate.  He was a long-standing member of First Congregational Church in Braintree and the Freemasons Rural Lodge A.F. & A.M Quincy.  Russell was the epitome of a gentleman with a truly kind and generous heart always willing to help others in need whether it was fixing a car, repairs around the house or simply being there to lend a helping hand.  Please join us in celebrating Russell’s life at the Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St. in Braintree, on Wednesday, Nov. 7th.  Visiting hours from 10am-1pm.  A private burial will be officiated by Rev. Michael Frady of First Congregational Church, Braintree, at the Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, MA on Thursday, Nov. 8th at 10am.
