Robert F. Swenson

BRAINTREE - Robert “Bob” F Swenson passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on April 5th, 2018. Bob was born in 1937 in Dorchester. He was a long time resident of Braintree.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents Roy M. and E. Barbara (Hiland) and brother, Roy Jr.  He is survived by his loving wife Janet of 58 years; his son Paul, his son Stephen and wife Liz, and his son Mark and wife Michelle. Also survived by his brother Richard and wife Jennie of Hanover, his sister Barbara Harrell of Texas City, sister-in-law Diana of Stoughton, and brother-in-law Walter Whidden. He was affectionately known as “Poppy” to his grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew, Johnathan, and David. Bob was enlisted in the Navy Seabees. He worked at the Fore River Shipyard and retired from AT&T as a communication technician where he was a member of the Pioneers. He truly enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports.  He loved riding his bicycle, vacationing in Florida, and learning and using all types of technology. He was a diehard Patriots fan since they first started playing. Relative and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours at the Mortimer N Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home at 516 Washington St., at 3 to 7 PM on Sunday, April 8th. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Monday, April 9th at 12 Noon to be followed by a funeral Mass at the Church of Saint Thomas More on Hawthorn Road at 1:15 PM. The burial will follow at the Plain St. Cemetery in Braintree.
