BRAINTREE - Norman Roger Smith, 98 years, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Grove Manor in Braintree. Norman was born in Quincy, MA. He went to Quincy-schools. He is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, during World War II. He was an electrical machinist and worked for General Dynamics and Bethlehem Steel at the Quincy Shipyard until retiring in 1985. Norman was in the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and music. He delighted in attending local flea markets and displaying his decorative wooden crafts. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, in New Hampshire. He is the beloved husband of Priscilla (Hallgren) Smith. Norman is the devoted father, of Norman Edward Smith and his wife Nancy of Whitman, MA; Wayne Edwin Smith and his wife Patricia of Hingham; Deborah Lynn Perry and her husband Dennis, of Holbrook and his daughter Donna Ann Smith, of Braintree. He is the adored grandfather of six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours for Norman will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Friday March 16th, from 9 to 11 AM, to be followed by a brief funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Peck Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial Donations may be made in Norman’s name, to the Blue Hills Trailside Museum at, 1904 Canton Ave, Milton, MA 02186.
