Mary L. (O’Brien) Wilkins, 89, of Braintree passed away at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center in Norwell, on Monday January 8, 2018. Mary was born in Boston and was a graduate of South Boston High School. She resided in South Boston before moving to Braintree in 1950. Mary was a manager for the Braintree School Cafeterias, for more than 40 years, many of which were spent at Lakeside Elementary, now Flaherty Elementary. She was an active communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish of Braintree, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters.  Mary was the beloved wife of Earl D. Wilkins, who passed away in 1988. She was the loving mother of Donna M. Sullivan married to Joseph, of Hanover and Daniel F. Wilkins married to Karen, of Longmont, Colorado. Mary was also the mother of the late Debra Ann Wilkins. She is the loving grandmother of Paul Blackstone of Braintree, Robert Smith of Dolan Springs, Arizona, Michael Smith of San Diego, CA, Lauren Wilkins and Brian Wilkins, both of Boulder, Colorado. Mary is also survived by six great grandchildren and was great grandmother of the late Sean Michael Smith formerly of San Diego, CA. Mary was the sister of the late Thomas O’Brien formerly of Braintree and the late Helen Dillon, formerly of Canton. Visiting hours for Mary will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Thursday January 11, 2018 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Friday January 12, 2018 at 9:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, South Braintree Square, Braintree at 10:30am.
