I remember my Dad working very hard to take care of his boisterous family, but he always made time to be with us.We went to the beach, to museums and camping in the White Mountains. He was indeed a great story teller. He told me that he and one of his cousins would ski Tuckerman Ravine on barrel staves-a far cry from the protective man we knew.Dad is at rest now, his long active life is witness to the strong man that he was. He and Mom will be missed.

Leo was always generous with his time and stories with me when I was a young man growing up. I remember him showing me around Boston in 1076 during the bi-centennial, especially the Tall Ships. He and Aunt Jackie also welcome me back warmly when I moved back to Boston in 1991.

While I haven't seen him for years, I am terribly saddened by his passing. 95 years well lived.

Tim

Uncle Paul, I could never figure out why mom called you Paul and everyone else called you Leo until I started doing geneology and realized your name is listed as Leopaul?! Still didn't explain anything except that the confusion in our family tends to be from past generations carried forward. I will always remember that you were there for us when Daddy died and Mom was having a hard time and we thank you very much for that. Rest in peace.

Sara, Dad's mom wanted to name him Leopold. One grandmother named him Joseph, the other grandmother Gerard. So the birth certificate says Leopaul, the baptism papers say Leo Paul Joseph Gerard. Another one of Dad's great stories!

Thanks Sara. Dad loved his sisters. I enjoyed spending time with you and your family on our trip to Lynchburg many years ago, when we were still kids. I remember a time when I took your Mom Violette to a Japanese Restaurant in Boston and she asked for sugar for her green tea. I think she used a lot of it. Maybe it's because of the southern "sweet tea". From there on I always have a little bit of sugar in my green tea.

I will miss you, Dad.
I'll remember the times you brought us to Niagara Falls and to Washington DC,
as well as so many different beaches and lakes you took us to over the years..
I enjoyed watching old movies about WWII with you and the many funny and interesting experiences you had working in the tank division, especially the story about the powdered eggs they used to feed you. You were a wonderful storyteller and loved to share your knowledge of so many things., You were also a great dancer, which made up for your complete lack of singing ability.! Sleep well Dad.

ARGH! I forgot to mention the 3 week trip to Europe they went on - definitely the trip of all trips for them, and a source of many stories.

Dad was a good dancer! He tried to teach me the foxtrot. I loved his stories!
