Braintree:  Kenneth J. Williams, Sr. 85, passed away at the Sachem Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater on Saturday September 23, 2017. Kenneth was born in Quincy and raised in Braintree. He was a 1951 graduate of Braintree High School where he played Football and Basketball. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict for two years. After his military service Kenneth completed a four year apprentice program in engineering and drafting at the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in Quincy. He was employed as a draftsman at the shipyard and went on with his education receiving his builder’s license. He worked as a construction Supervisor and went on to become a building inspector for the City of Quincy. Kenneth was elected as the Tree Warden for the Town of Braintree, a position he held for 18 years. Kenneth was an active member of the Masons belonging to Delta Lodge in Braintree for 51 years. An avid sports fan Kenneth enjoyed following the Patriots, the Red Sox and UCONN basketball. Kenneth and his wife moved from Braintree to Bridgewater 11 years ago.  He was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Bridgewater and Christ Church in Quincy. Kenneth’s hobbies include racing homing pigeons, running 5K races and competing in the Quincy Senior Olympics from the age of 55 until last year. He was also a member of the Whitman VFW horseshoe league . Kenneth was extremely devoted to his family. He is the beloved husband of 63 years to Diane (Leben) Williams. Kenneth is the devoted and loving father of Kenneth Williams, Jr. of Quincy, David Williams and his wife Cheryl of Norton, Valerie Fiedor married to Mark of Braintree and Paul Williams married to Laurie of North Carolina. He was also the father of the late Mark Williams. Kenneth is the cherished grandfather of Jake Williams, Danielle Keogh, Alexander, Nicholas and Nolan Williams, Gabrielle, Skyler, and Austin Fiedor, Wesley and Eric Rahn, and Richard Maynard. He is the Great Grandfather of Evelyn and Jaxson Williams. He is the Brother of the late Doris Frye, Mildred Widdop, Elizabeth Smith, Richard Williams, William Williams, and Henry Williams. Kenneth is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews especially Lisa Whittemore.

Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street Braintree on Friday, September 29th from 9:00-11:00 am to be followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11:00am. Delta Lodge will conduct a Masonic Service for Kenneth during the visiting hours. Rather than flowers Kenneth’s family sincerely requests that donations in his name be sent to Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368 or to Trinity Episcopal Church, 91 Main Street, Bridgewater, MA  02324.
