BRAINTREE - June F. Richia, 91 years old, passed away peacefully in Weymouth on May 8th, 2019. She was the wife of the late Henry Richia, a Navy Veteran in WWII. Together with their forever friends George and Millie Serena, they had owned and operated the popular "Dairy Cone" business. Henry and June loved traveling to Florida and going on cruises. They also spent many days on their own boat lovingly named by Henry the “June Bug”. June loved dancing and especially loved Competitive Round Dancing, and Square Dancing. She was a member of North and South Shore Dance clubs, along with her husband. She was the beloved daughter of the late Fred Friend and his wife, Mary (Bailey) Friend. June was preceded in death by her two sisters Mary (Friend) Babin and Veronica Eileen (Friend) Sullivan. June loved going to yard sales and shopping with her sister Mary. They were both avid collectors of glassware and pottery. She also loved bowling and dancing with her girlfriend Terri Cunniff. June was a graduate of Hyde Park High School. June loved all animals and nature and rescued many cats who she would love and care for. She supported the Animal Rescue League. June had a special love for her close friend, Patti Serena Joyce who always lovingly cared and supported her. June leaves behind her nieces, Mary Catino of Bridgewater, Veronica Kuhns from Texas, Kathleen Woodman from Florida and a nephew Michael Sullivan from Florida. June was loved by all who met her and will be deeply missed. A private service will be held at 9:30 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on this Friday, May 17th at 9:30 AM. Donations in her name can be made to the Animal Rescue League.
