John (Jack) Charles MacDonald, III, 79, of Hingham passed away at his home on Tuesday Evening, October 31, 2017. John was born in Cambridge and raised in Milton. He was a graduate of Milton High School and went on to Boston University where he received his Associates Degree. John began his career as an elevator technician and was a member of IUEC Local 4. He was employed by the Otis Elevator Co then he started his own company Delta Elevator Co. in Allston. Jack went on to become the New England Regional Manager for U.S. Elevator. Jack was an active Mason having held the title of Past Master of the Rabboni Lodge of Westwood and was the past DDGM of Dorchester Fourth Masonic District. Jack was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Braintree and Weymouth. He had been a Hingham resident for the past 25 years and had formerly lived in Weymouth for 35 years. Jack was the beloved husband for 60 years of Nancy E. (Moody) MacDonald. He is the devoted father of Carole Ann Hammond married to Richard of Bourne, John C. MacDonald married to Debra of Rockland and Judith Lynn Callahan married to Jeffrey of Harrisburg, Missouri. Jack is the proud grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 2. He is the brother of Jeanne A. Leslie of Milton and Bruce B. MacDonald of Hanover. Jack is also survived by his faithful dog “Jack”. Visiting hours for Jack will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 870 Broad Street, Jackson Square (Across from the U.S. Post Office) East Weymouth, MA. On Monday November 6th from 4-7pm. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 6:00pm during the visiting hours and the Funeral Service will follow at 7:00pm. Interment will be private at a later date. Rather than flowers the family sincerely requests that donations be sent to The Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114
