John J. Clark, of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 29th, at home with his wife and daughter by his side. He was 66 years old.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Claire, and his children, son Sean and his wife Sarah of Worcester, who are expecting John's first grandchild, Ainsley, and daughter Heather of West Bridgewater. John will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, Stanley and his wife Maria of Billerica, Margaret of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Paul and his wife Bernadette of Braintree, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Stanley G. Clark and Nora (Broderick) Clark, and sister Teresa (Clark) Howser.
John was born on December 12, 1951 in Boston, MA to Stanley and Nora Clark. He grew up in Dorchester and attained his high school diploma from Boston Latin School in 1969. He graduated from Northeastern in 1974 with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and acquired his Master's degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering in 1983. John worked as an engineer up until his retirement in October 2018. John had his own engineering firm for a number of years and later proudly worked at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where he was responsible for the buildings containing the space shuttles. At retirement, he was a Safety Engineer for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), where he was responsible for inspecting nursing homes and other facilities to ensure their safety.
John was an avid fisherman and lobsterman and enjoyed spending his free time on the water and sharing what he caught with his family, friends, and neighbors. He was a kind, generous, and witty individual who also loved cooking, fixing things around the house, and sharing his knowledge with others.
Visiting hours will be at the Braintree Peck Funeral Home at 516 Washington St., Braintree, MA from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th. A funeral service will be held at the Braintree Peck Funeral Home on Friday, December 7th at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Clare's Church on Liberty St. in Braintree at 10 a.m. Both services will be joint services for John and his father, Stanley, who passed away just two days prior to John.
