Jean C.R. Bragg

Braintree ─ Jean C. R. Bragg passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2017, after a brief illness. Jean was born and educated in Boston and went on to further her education at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where she received a double bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and gerontology. She was an active member of the Mayflower Society and held the title of Regent for the Daughters of the American Revolution. Jean was an ombudsman for elder affairs. She was also an advocate for animal rights and volunteered at several shelters. Jean was a world traveler and enjoyed many trips with her husband, daughter, and son-in-law. She was also an avid gardener. Jean was the daughter of Paul and Margaret (O'Neil) Roach. Jean was the loving wife of the late Clifford Bragg. She was a devoted, proud, loving mother of Valerie Jeanne Bragg-Byrne, who is married to Gary Byrne of Braintree. She was also devoted to the late Naomi Jean. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, 20 Sea Street, Quincy. Friends are asked to gather at the Greenleaf Street entrance of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Donations in Jean's memory may be sent to The Last Resort Animal Shelter, 1126 Broadway Street, Hanover, MA 02339 or the Winslow Farm Animal Sanctuary, 37 Eddy Street, Norton, MA 02766. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Peck Funeral Homes of Braintree and Weymouth.
