BRAINTREE - James Daniel Dawson, 86, passed away after a long illness at his home, in Braintree. He was the son of James and Helen Dawson. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Diane Dawson. During the Korean Conflict James was in the U.S. Navy stationed in part in Cuba, with the Shore Patrol. He then went on to become a Petty Officer First Class and was involved in electronic countermeasures. James worked for New England Telephone and later AT & T for thirty years, later in life also a consultant to AT + T. He loved being a member of the Union Congregational Church. He also was the Commissioner of the Pond Meadow Park Reserve in Braintree. He loved travelling to Aruba and with his wife all over the world. Barbara and James traveled to Germany and went on a number of Rhine River Cruises. He leaves behind his beloved sons, Jim and his wife, Rosangela, of South Weymouth and John Dawson of Bridgewater. He also leaves behind his beloved daughter, Beth Livingston of Huntington Beach California. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Robert, Joey, Ryan, Danielle, Julie, and Samantha. Visiting hours are at the Braintree Peck Funeral Homes, 516 Washington St. from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, January 25th. A Funeral Service will be held at the Union Congregational Church, 74 Commercial St. Braintree, on Saturday January 26th, at 10 AM. Burial to follow at the Braintree Cemetery. A collation afterwards will be at the DAV Hall on 788 Liberty St. in Braintree.
