Henry J. Fitzgerald

Henry J. Fitzgerald, 88, of Braintree passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at the Seasons Hospice of Milton. Henry was a Past Grand Knight of the Braintree Council #1462 Knights of Columbus. Henry was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Dorchester High School. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Henry was employed as a printer for the Recording and Statistical Firm of Boston until his retirement at age 65. Henry was the loving husband of Dorothy Anna (Johnson) Fitzgerald to whom he had been married for 62 years. He was the son of the late Harry and Delia (Costello) Fitzgerald both of whom were born in Ireland. He is the devoted father of Henry J. Fitzgerald, Jr. married to Ann of Braintree, Elaine M. DeWolfe married to Bruce of Raynham and Dorothy A. Connors married to Paul of Braintree. Henry is the proud Grandfather of Katie O’Connor, Stephanie Fitzgerald, Kelsey Fitzgerald, Brian DeWolfe, Lindsay DeWolfe, Jennifer Medina and Amanda Guilfoy. Henry is the Great Grandfather of Melanie and Natalie Medina. He was the brother of the late Mary Garrity and David Fitzgerald. Henry was an active member of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish where he served as an usher. Henry was a long time member of the Braintree Men’s Club, he was known for being an expert dancer with his wife at the Viking Club of Braintree. He was an avid sports fan. Henry felt his greatest accomplishment was his family to whom he was totally devoted and took so much pride in. Visiting hours will be held for Henry at the Mortimer N. Peck – Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Tuesday, April 3rd from 4-8 pm. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Wednesday morning, April 4th at 8:30am to be followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, South Braintree Square at 9:30am. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial Donations in Henry’s memory may be sent to Seasons Hospice, 597 Randolph Avenue, Milton, MA 02186
