WEYMOUTH - Harold A. Shedd, Jr. 80 years of age, QFD Retired, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Sunday, May 21st, 2017. He was born in Braintree and was a graduate of Braintree High School Class of ’54. He worked as a pressman for Harrison Publishing House in Quincy. Harold then worked as a firefighter for the Quincy Fire Department from 1970-1996, when he retired. He primarily worked at the Quincy Fire Headquarters. Harold was a member of Local 792. He was also a past treasurer of the Quincy Firefighters Relief Association. Harold served in the Army National Guard in the 1058th Transport Co., which was stationed out of Hingham. He was a member of the Delta Lodge for 59 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Braintree and attended Old South Union Church in South Weymouth. Harold was the beloved husband of Elsie M. (Christensen) Shedd of Weymouth, to whom he had been married for 50 years. He was the devoted father of Susan E. Shedd of Weymouth. Harold was the brother of the late Ruth Hapke, Nancy Valle, Alice Farquharson, and Hazel Babb. He also leaves behind several nephews. Harold leaves behind his two adored mini schnauzers, Jack and Henry. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Thursday, May 25th from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 26th at 11:00am with the Deacon John Menz, Jr., Quincy Fire Department Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations in Harold’s memory may be sent to Quincy Firefighter’s Relief Association, Attn.
