BROCKTON - Evelyn L. Kanach, 94, known as Lynn Ramsay of “The Echo’s of the West” has funeral services at the Braintree Peck Funeral Homes, Visiting hours are on Tuesday July 23rd from 4 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be from 10 to 11 on Wednesday July 24th, at 516 Washington St. Braintree followed by a burial service at 11:30 at the Blue Hills Cemetery 700 West St. Braintree.
Lynn was born in Quincy and lived with her parents John and Helen Ramsay and her sister Dorothy .she graduated from Quincy High School. She worked at a bank when she was young and played guitar with sister at local events playing country music. She worked with many bands and often was booked at the Mohawk Ranch in Boston.
She worked as a duo with Peggy Darling, the "Harmony Yodelers" for many years before becoming the duet team of Chuck Mason and Lynn Ramsay "The Echoes of the West'. Lynn was a fantastic Yodeler and they recorded a record with her Yodeling. Chuck played rhythm guitar and Lynn played lead guitar.
They had a Saturday morning radio show as well as working many night clubs, shows and events all over New England.
They later married until Chuck passed away in 2001.
They were entered into the Massachusetts Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980.
Lynn passed away at home, surrounded by her family on July 17th, 2019. She leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Hayes, Son in law Mark Hayes. She was "Nana" to Kelley Hayes and Amy Hayes. She was "Great Great" to Christian, Jayden, and Layla.
She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
