Elin J. (Horter) Young, 87, of Middleboro, formerly of Braintree, passed away at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton on Sunday, November 12, 2017 after a brief illness. Elin was born in Oneida, New York and educated in Brookline, MA.  Elin moved to Braintree in 1949 where she raised her family. She had been a Cafeteria Manager for the Braintree Public Schools prior to her retirement. Elin was a member of the First Congregational Church of Braintree and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed reading, knitting and bingo. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida with her sister, Elsa and traveling to Hawaii and Australia. She moved to Oak Point in Middleboro in 2001. Elin was the beloved wife of the late John W. Young who died in 2001. She was a devoted and loving Mother to her five sons, Donald A. Young and his wife Kathleen and David R. Young and his wife Julie both of Whitman, Douglas J. Young and his partner Regina DeLuca of Kailua, Hawaii, Jon E. Young and his wife Janine of Quincy, Steven E. Young of Haverhill and her daughter-in-law Ann Young of Whitman.  She was the proud grandmother of Eric, Matthew, Kevin, Russell, Katherine and Joseph and the Great Grandmother of Elyssa, Johanna, Lila, Alexander, Maggie Rae and Mac. She was the Sister of Elsa H. Reddish of Naples, FL and Eric Horter and his wife Jeanne of Oregon. Elin was the Step Sister of Lacen Horter and Candace Horter both of Oregon. She was the daughter of the late Margaret (Gould) Horter- Poulson and Donald Horter. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck- Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, MA on Thursday November 16, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held for Elin on Friday November 17, 2017 at 11:00am at the funeral home. The Reverend Michael Frady of The First Congregational Church, Braintree will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
