BRAINTREE — Edward “Ned” R. Wynot, age 83, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018. He was born at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth in 1935. He was a 1953 graduate of Braintree High School and then attended the Franklin Institute. He was the sponsor, coach and President of the East Braintree Little League, an organizer of Braintree Youth Hockey, and the assistant Boy Scout leader at the Faith Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Delta Bowling League and the Rural Masonic Lodge in Quincy. Additionally, he was the former president of Mass Aqua Sports, the American Legion, Hope Lutheran Church in Braintree, and Rotary — which he loved — where he was also a Paul Harris Fellow. Ned was actively involved in the town of Braintree, serving as Selectman and Chairman of the Board, as well as serving as a park commissioner for nine years and participating on the Water and Sewer Commission. Along with that, Ned owned the Wynot’s Service Station in East Braintree and loved serving his community there. Though he enjoyed golfing in Florida and Virginia, he always said that the Braintree Golf Course was his favorite.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Pauline, as well as his four children, Deborah Bjorkman and her husband Carl of Braintree; Robert Edward Wynot and his wife Robin, also of Braintree; Nancy Golden and her husband Kevin of Walpole; and John Parker Wynot and his husband Carl Chiaretto of Medford. He also leaves behind two sisters, Jacqueline Port of San Diego, and Barbara J. Keefe of Fort Myers. He is survived by his seven grandchildren, Daniel and Douglas Bjorkman; Jaimie, Daina and Caisie Wynot; and Grant and Tyler Golden; as well as two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Lukas Bjorkman. Charitable donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Braintree on 12 Elm Street. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 12 Elm Street Braintree, MA on Friday, August 24th, at 11:00 AM.
