VAN SCHAGEN, David L., 82, of Braintree, MA and Marshfield, VT, died peacefully at home on March 24, 2018. Born in Boston, MA, David was a graduate of Braintree High School, Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts and Boston University. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Harwood DDE-861. Although David was a life-long resident of Braintree, during his childhood he spent most summers with his grandparents in northern Vermont. After retiring from 20 years at General Dynamics, David, an avid outdoorsman, spent a majority of his time on Peacham Pond where he could pursue his passions of logging, boating, snowshoeing and spending time with his family. Beloved husband of Deanna K. (Gould) Van Schagen and devoted father to Donna J. Van Schagen of Westwood and Denise E. (Van Schagen) Cusack and her husband, Michael C. Cusack of Braintree. Proud grandfather of Lauren and Caitlin Kemalian and William and Benjamin Cusack. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marverene Domey of Cabot, VT, many nieces and a nephew.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 31st at 11am, with a time for visitation prior to the service from 10am-11am, at Quincy Point Congregational Church, 444 Washington Street, Quincy, MA. A luncheon will follow the service.
