Carole Buker Obituary

Carole A. (Welch) Buker, age 77, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family on Friday, June 22, 2018. The beloved wife of David A. Buker, she was the devoted mother of Paul and his wife Karla of Weymouth and David Buker, Jr. and his wife Doreen of Carver, Beth Hamilton and her husband Blair of Waxhaw, NC, Heidi Fitzpatrick and her partner David Pilon of Braintree, Stephen and his wife Leah of Plymouth and Daniel Buker and his wife Kristin of Rockland. She was the loving grandmother of 18 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Carole was the dear sister of John Welch and his wife Sally of Whitman, Stephen Welch and his wife Nancy of Scituate and the late Susan Welch.

Carole graduated Braintree High School in 1958. Throughout her life, she worked at John Hancock as a secretary in Boston, a teacher at Merry Deb Nursery School, and a nurse’s aide at John Scott Nursing Home. Carole also worked multiple side jobs alongside her husband, but her greatest job was being the stay at home mom of 6 children. Carole spent over 60 years with her best friend and love of her life. Where you saw Carole, you saw Dave.

Carole was welcoming to everyone. She loved having her house full of people, laughter, and fun. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and friends. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She loved the Red Sox, crossword puzzles, and playing cards. Her favorite card game was cribbage and once got a “29” hand. She enjoyed golfing and bowling. Carole was very smart. She loved to read and learn. She loved to cook, bake, and host parties. Her famous chocolate chip cookies were always a hit.

Carole loved the holidays surrounded by her family. She always picked out the best Christmas tree and ensured it was decorated perfectly. She always sent the best greeting cards for birthdays and holidays. Carole was very devoted to her faith in the Catholic Church. She attended church every Sunday and spent every morning saying the rosary before starting her day.

Carole had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up a room.  She was the true matriarch of the family and will be missed dearly.
