Ralph Reed Obituary

Ralph J. Reed, 92 of Braintree was born in South Boston and passed away peacefully in Quincy surrounded by his loving family on January 11, 2024. Ralph was born in 1931 to the late Ralph and Winifred Reed. He is predeceased by his cherished wife and soulmate Virginia “Jean” Reed (Miller) and his six siblings.

Ralph is survived by his loving children: daughter Carol Reed of Weymouth, son Donald and Crystal of Braintree, daughter Deb Healy and Bill of Bridgewater, and son Ralph, his wife Gail and daughter, Jeanne. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Melanie and Kevin Lebel of Conway, NH, and Samantha Healy of Bridgewater, MA, and his adored great-grandsons Owen, Dylan, Keegan and Chase Lebel.

Ralph proudly served his country as a Drill Sergeant in the Army, stationed in Germany during 1951-1954. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ralph held two memorable careers.  He worked at Columbia Gem and when that company went out of business, he went to work at Armstrong World Industries, where he retired at age 65.

In retirement, Ralph and his wife Jean enjoyed traveling including family camping trips, trips to Europe, and many many cruises. He enjoyed playing cards, was an avid walker and loved to square dance. A Braintree resident since 1959, Ralph also loved going to the senior center, visiting Sunset lake, and most of all loved visiting Castle Island in Southie.

Services for Ralph will be held at Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street in Braintree on Tuesday, January 16th from 1-5 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
